Last year was an interesting one filled with challenges and opportunities for every segment in Puerto Rico’s economy. Obviously, the supply chain sector wasn’t the exception. It seems that this year is going on the same path and once more the private sector needs to take a hands-on approach towards our current economic situation.

Since its origin, the Multi-Sector Alliance has been continuously searching for mechanisms to move forward its mission of turning the Island into the import/export hub of the Americas. We’ve identified over the years that one ways to reach our goals is through education. Puerto Rico’s main resource is its human capital and the better prepared it is, the better it can serve the development of our economy. Another means to reach our purpose is connecting people. We understand that when you get key industry players under the same roof, they’re bound to do business. This is what happened last March on the Latin American Supply Chain Expo 2010. We took an unprecedented education program imparted by world renowned speakers, and mixed it with A-class suppliers to develop a unique, never seen business platform. Together with its co-location with Interphex Puerto Rico, the event was huge success

Well, what’s the next step, you might ask. My answer…”let’s do it again! And this year it’s going to be even better. First, the Multi-Sector Alliance of Buyers and Suppliers will kick-off with a similar event on May 20 & 21 on our neighboring island, the Dominican Republic. This effort presents an opportunity to many companies seeking to expand their business portfolio. The joint effort will help improve our competitive edge in the ever-expanding world market focusing our efforts in working collectively as a region instead of being individual players. Afterwards, we return to San Juan for this year’s edition of the Latin American Supply Chain Expo 2011 to be held October 20 & 21 in the Puerto Rico Convention Center. Once again, we co-locate with Interphex Puerto Rico. We invite you to be part of these important events and benefit from every resource. From a business standpoint it’s a no brainer…you have to be there.
